Litigation lawyer Chadwick Newcombe is a fourth generation Torontonian. He holds degrees as a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto, and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1998 after completing articles with a national firm wanting to specialize as a litigation lawyer.

Mr. Newcombe is a litigation lawyer with a general civil advocacy practice with particular experience in commercial and employment litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes, ranging from wrongful dismissal cases to cases involving the purchase and sale of real property to shareholder disputes to breach of contract matters. As a litigation lawyer, he has successfully represented clients in proceedings at all levels of Ontario courts, as well as in the Federal Court of Canada, and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also assisted counsel in jurisdictions beyond Ontario in environmental and other proceedings, and been qualified by the Court of Queen’s Bench of Ontario as an expert witness in respect of the standard of care owed by lawyers practicing in Ontario.

Mr. Newcombe has served as an instructor/facilitator and skill evaluator for the Legal Education Society of Ontario’s CPLED course (which must be completed by all individuals seeking to practice law in Ontario). He is the longest-serving coach of one of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law’s competitive moot teams (a mock court proceeding) and regularly assesses law students at the University of Toronto in intra-Faculty moots. He also serves as a member of the University of Toronto Student’s Union Review Board, and volunteers with Student Legal Assistance and other local organizations. Within Bassermann Law Firm, Mr. Newcombe also acts as a mentor for all their students-at-law with respect to litigation matters and how to best represent clients as a litigation lawyer.
